The Lagos State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has showed its concern to the reckless and prodigal governance in the State by criticising the decision of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) and Governor Fashola to commit the resources and paraphernalia of the State Government into supporting the ACN Governorship Candidate in Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu.
The Party is more concerned that the 57 Councils in the State have been mandated to contribute 25Million Naira each and also mobilise their Council staff to Ondo State in order to support the ACN candidate.
The Party has based its strong criticism on the reports from within the ACN campaign Camp in Ondo in which Lagos State: Council Chairmen, S.As; Commissioners, and even the Governor have been actively participating at the risk of grounding governance in the State.
"We are aware that Governor Fashola is funding his friend's governorship campaigns in Ondo State. He is also aiding and abetting the Council Chairmen to misapropriate their Council funds by contributing the sum of 25 Million Naira each into the Campaign camp of Rotimi Akeredolu, the ACN Governorship candidate in Ondo State.
"The Ekiti and Ondo indigenes in the state and Local Government employment have also been mobilized to storm Ondo state on the election day to canvass votes for the ACN Candidate. All these are to satisfy the inordinate ambition of the ACN national leader, Bola Tinubu to takeover Ondo state.
"We warn that we shall do all we can to protect and recover any lagos fund spent on the Ondo election," the party added.
The Party posited that the robbing Peter to pay Paul attitude of Governor Fashola is now in the public glare and it is a matter of time for the governor to be disgraced out of Office and will be recorded as the prodigal governor of Lagos State. To avoid this, the Party opined that " Governor Fashola should resist the ACN pressure to spend Lagos Funds to prosecute the Ondo Governorship election. Governor Fashola should rather take a cue from the presidency's decision to stay clear of sponsoring PDP with State Funds".
